Fans have two opportunities to catch Genoa Keawe in concert.



Hall of Fame fetes Keawe

The Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame will honor Genoa Keawe and the 176-year-old Haili Church Choir of Hilo during its 6th annual Ho'ohanohano induction ceremony and concert Feb. 20 at the Hawai'i Theatre.

Also performing will be the Kamehameha Alumni Glee Club, and Keawe will be joined by Nina Keali'iwahamana, 'Iwalani Kahalewai, Mahi Beamer and Gary Aiko. Songs from the Hall of Fame archives will be presented by the Kahauanu lake Singers, 'Ale'a, Haunani Apoliona and guest dancers. The event will be emceed by Harry B. Soria.

Tickets for the show, which begins at 6:30 p.m., are on sale at the theater box office for $15 to $25. An additional $2 charge per ticket benefits the theater's renovation fund.

Another concert featuring Keawe in an intimate venue with her family and friends takes place 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Honolulu Academy of Arts Theatre. Tickets are $15, available at the museum front desk. Call 532-8700.


Stice returns to local stage

Broadway veteran and former Hawaii resident Jade Stice will appear in the Tim Rice-ABBA musical "Chess," being presented Feb. 16-March 4 at Diamond Head Theatre. Tickets are $10 to $40 with discounts available for students, seniors and military. Call 732-0274 to charge by phone.

Bullet Mililani Soccer Club Scholarships: The soccer club is offering three $300 scholarships to graduating seniors. Eligibility requirements include a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better and an active two-year membership in the Mililani Soccer Club. Applications and guidelines are available at www.mililanisoccer.com, from MSC coaches or at the Mililani High School College and Career Office. Deadline to apply is March 10.
