Christmas dining

If sitting around and waiting for Santa (or cleaning up after Santa) is not your idea of a holiday evening, you'll probably be looking for a place to eat out. Here is a sampling of special dinners planned at restaurants:

Bullet Cascada, Royal Garden at Waikiki: Christmas dinner buffet includes duck salad, king crab legs, prime rib, roasted pork; 6-10 p.m., $35. Call 943-0202.

Bullet Padovani's Bistro: Four-course dinners Dec. 24 and 25, featuring Poached Turkey, Alburfera Style (Christmas Eve) or Roasted Prime Colorado Lamb Chops (Christmas Day); $65. Call 946-3456.

Bullet Parc Cafe, Waikiki Parc Hotel: Buffet dinner Dec. 24 or 25 includes sushi, specialty salads, pasta station, turkey, lamb chops, pork loin; 5-9 p.m., $31.95. Christmas brunch buffet is 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; $29.95. Children charged $1 per year of age. Call 931-6643.

Bullet Sam Choy's Diamond Head: "Bright Star Christmas Menu" features four-course meal with entree choices of grilled beef topped with prawns or steak and slipper lobster tail; $45.95. Call 732-8645.

Bullet Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch and Crab: Christmas brunch buffet includes omelet and carving stations; 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $23.95 or $9.95 for children. Dinner buffet includes wok and carving stations; 4:30 to 10 p.m.; $27.95 or $13.95 for children. Call 545-7979.

Bullet Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar: Special menu includes Foie Gras and Oxtail Ravioli, Grilled Boneless Quail Salad, Christmas Spiced Rack of Lamb, White Truffle and Leek Crusted Steamed Snapper. Dinner hours are 5 to 10 p.m., Dec. 24 and 25. Call 536-6286.

Bullet 3660 on the Rise: Christmas Eve buffet, 5-9:30 p.m., with entrées such as mahimahi with shiitake ragout, seafood stir-fry, roast chicken and veal short ribs; $35 or $15 for children. Call 737-1177.

Ringing in the new

If you're looking ahead toward New Year's Eve, consider these choices for greeting 2001:

Bullet L'Uraku: 10-course kaiseki dinner merges traditional Japanese ingredients with grown-in-Hawaii produce and fish -- for example, kazunoko (herring eggs) with Big Island hearts of palm; $70. Call 955-0552.

Bullet Padovani's Bistro: Four-course meals, plus desserts, in choice of vegetarian meal or a menu featuring lobster and veal; 8-9:30 p.m. seatings; $95. Call 946-3456.

Got wheels?

Lanakila Rehabilitation Center is seeking individual and organization donations for its "Adopt a Senior" program.

Just $4.75 will help provide nutritional holiday meals for a senior, 60 and older, who is frail and has no family or friends.

Among adoptees this year is the Vietnam Veterans SPU Street Bikers Association. The bikers will be two-wheeling the meals to seniors beginning 9:30 a.m. Christmas morning.

The "Adopt A Senior" program will provide holiday meals to more than 1,000 homebound seniors islandwide.
