The state Health Department's Hawaii Immunization Program recommends that everyone at high risk for influenza should go to one of the following clinics or see their doctor.
Persons at risk for flu or persons who care for or live with such individuals will be given first priority. Persons at high risk for flu also are at high risk for pneumonia. Such persons need both shots. The pneumonia shot is usually a one-time-only shot. Ask your doctor.
Those at risk include:
Seniors 65 or olderWhen family members or caregivers of those at risk take the flu shot, they are protecting those who are most at risk, says the Health Department.Women in their second or third trimester of pregnancy
Anyone with chronic heart and lung diseases such as asthma or diabetes, kidney disease or a weakened immune system.
