Japan Giants on Big Island

The Tokyo Yomiuri Giants arrived in Kona yesterday along with an entourage of about 200 people, including 50 from the media, for a Big Island vacation to mark their first Japan Baseball Series title in six years.

The Giants will play a lot of golf and go snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay while headquartered at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

Generalao 'Top Gun'

Vince Generalao outran Myles Togioka to win an all-Kailua final for the Goodyear Top Gun drag racing title Saturday night in the NAPA South Pacific Championships at Hawaii Raceway Park.

Rodeo tribute to paniolo

A crowd of 18,000 National Finals Rodeo fans enjoyed an "Old Hawaii on Horseback" pageant last weekend at Las Vegas.

In a tribute to Hawaii's paniolo, 25 working cowboys, pa'u experts, horse-lei makers, costume makers, musicians and rodeo champions joined Las Vegas-based performers and Hawaiian Civic Club members in the gala presentation.
