Thatcher named
Tatupu Award winner

University of Oklahoma punt returner J.T. Thatcher will be announced as the winner of the Mosi Tatupu Special Teams Award today on ESPN's Home Depot Show.

Thatcher will be presented the award at the 2001 Rivals.com Hula Bowl Maui Senior All-Star Football Classic on Jan. 20 at War Memorial Stadium, and invited to play in the game.

The Tatupu award is named for the former Punahou and USC standout and long-time New England Patriots' special teams star. Past winners are Brock Olivio, Chris McAlister and Deltha O'Neal.

QB Club honors two

Hawaii High School Athletic Association Executive Director Keith Amemiya and Hawaii Pacific University volleyball setter Nia Tuitele are the Honolulu Quarterback Club Sportspersons of the Month for November.

Amemiya and Tuitele will be honored at Monday's Quarterback Club Meeting at the Pagoda Restaurant.

Sony Open tickets

Tickets for the Sony Open in Hawaii 2001 golf tournament are on sale.

The cost for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is $10 per person. It's $15 on Saturday and Sunday.

A Season Badge for $50 is available covering all five days.

Admission Monday and Tuesday is free.

Ticket locations are al all First Hawaiian Bank outlets, United Airlines ticket offices at Bishop Street and Ala Moana Center, Bloch Arena, Kaneohe MCAB pro shop, Camp Smith and Hickam AFB Mamala Course pro shops, Toshiba Enterprises and the Waialae Country Club.
