Hawaii’s music stars
on Live Pledge

Hawaii Public Television is seeking public support this weekend during its Live Pledge, running today through Sunday. The station has set a goal of $75,000 for the fund-raising event.

The station's newly appointed chief executive officer, Mike McCartney, will be on air to ask the public for support. Hawaii Public Television no longer receives government funds but is relying on community support for its operations.

The special programming leads up to the broadcast of "Hawaii -- Songs of Aloha," 9:15 p.m. Sunday, a program celebrating both traditional and modern Hawaiian music and dance. It was taped at the Hawaii Theatre in August and presented to public television stations across the country.
