Piano Man Elton
John in concert
January at Blaisdell

Elton John returns to Hawaii in January for two concerts at Blaisdell Arena, on Jan. 12 and 13. Tickets will go on sale 9 a.m. Saturday at the Blaisdell box office and Ticket Plus outlets.

Last year, Elton John performed three sold-out shows at the arena that featured only him and his piano. This time, he'll be bringing his band for a show that promises to explore a world of music far beyond the pop charts.

Since gaining fame in the '70s, Elton John has continued to turn out music for radio, stage and film.

To date, Elton John has sold more than 60,600,000 records in the United States.

He recently wrote, with Tim Rice, a version of "Aida" for Disney. The duo's work on "The Lion King" also won a 1998 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Tickets to the concert are $65 and $45 reserved (with a nominal service charge). Ticket Plus outlets include Tempo Music stores, the University of Hawai'i Campus Center and House of Music-Ala Moana. Tickets may also be charged at 526-4400 or purchased via Internet at www.ticketplushawaii.com.

For more information, call the Blaisdell box office at 591-2211.

The concert is being presented by Tom Moffatt in association with House of Blues Concerts.
