By Ken Sakamoto, Star-Bulletin
David Tribble, right, takes a picture of his wife, Catherine, and
sons Aidan, 2, and Connor, 6 months, in front of the sand sculpture
at Pearlridge Center. Fifty tons of pure Hawaiian sand transform
Pearlridge into a railway station of old. Hawaii's largest sand
sculpture, created by sand artist Todd Vander Pluym, is celebrating
its fifth year as the centerpiece of Pearlridge's holiday activities.
Past holidays have featured an undersea Christmas,
Santa scenes and an elf village.

Toys for Tots kicks off its holiday collection drive at Pearlridge
yesterday. Kaneohe Marine Staff Sgt. Ruben Villarreal, assistant
coordinator for the drive, poses with one of the toys
destined for island keiki.

Toys for Tots needs donations of new, unwrapped toys to brighten
the holidays for needy children. Toys for newborns to 17-year-olds
may be dropped off through Dec. 22 at any Longs Drug Store,
Subway Sandwich shop, NAPA dealership or the Hawaiian Isles
Kona Coffee Co. corporate office.
