East vs. West in
football classic

The HUB Foundation Goodwill Football Classic -- pitting the top Oahu players from the East against the best of the West -- is set for Dec. 8 at Aloha Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Each team will have 50 players, with St. Louis, Pac-Five and Iolani players joining OIA Eastern Division players, and Kamehameha, Damien and Punahou teaming with players from the OIA West. Roosevelt coach Les Parilla coaches the East and Punahou's Kale Ane heads the West. General admission is $5, and children 6-and-under get in free. Tickets can be purchased from the athletic departments of participating schools, or at the Aloha Stadium Box Office. ... The Roosevelt Thanksgiving Soccer Tournament kicks off at 4 p.m. today at Roosevelt Stadium, continues Friday and wraps up on Saturday. Four pool play matches will be played today and on Friday, with the first game each day at 4 p.m. Pool play concludes Saturday, with games from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The playoff games -- for 7th, 5th, 3rd and the championship -- begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with the title game slated for 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. ... Kailua, Radford, Farrington, Campbell, Aiea, Waialua, Hawaii Baptist and host Moanalua play in the Dunlop Thanksgiving Softball Classic on Friday and Saturday. The first game is 8:30 a.m. each day. ... St. Louis remained at No. 5 in the nation on Rivals.com and No. 6 on Schoolsports.com (ESPN) and moved up in three national polls this week -- improving to No. 6 (Dick Butkus Network) and No. 7 (USA Today and Fox Fab 50).
