Bullet Ogilvy & Mather Hawaii has promoted Emi Oishi Anamizu to managing director and chief executive officer; and Marc Witter and Tim Anderson to managing directors. Anamizu and Witter were account directors prior to their promotion, and Anderson was and will continue to be the creative director.

Bullet Central Pacific Bank has named Blenn A. Fujimoto senior vice president and retail sales division manager. He will be responsible for the bank's sales program. Fujimoto joins CPB after 20 years with Bank of Hawaii.

Honors

Bullet Drs. Carlos Omphroy and Tyrie Lee Jenkins, Honolulu ophthalmologists, received the VISX star surgeon ranking for 1999. The ranking places the doctors in the top 5 percent of refractive surgeons in the nation.

Bullet Ernest D. Libarios Sr., a counselor and professor at Leeward Community College, was awarded the Outstanding Individual Award for extraordinary contribution in self-esteem enhancement by the Hawaii Association for Self-esteem.

Bullet Island Scene Online, HMSA's member magazine Web site, took first place for "best overall Web site design, editorial content, functionality, ease of use, good imaginative graphics, special Web-only content, and correct links" in the annual Society of National Association Publications EXCEL Awards.

Bullet The 4-H program awarded the following people for their 30-plus years of volunteer service: Gladys Tashiro of Kauai, 46 years of service; Mabel Domae of Maui, 44 years of service; Janette Carriera of Hawaii, 36 years of service; Betty Wung of Hawaii, 31 years of service; Barbara Nobriga of Hawaii, 30 years of service; Nick Spotkaeff of Oahu, 32 years of service; and Mary Andrews of Oahu, 31 years of service.

Bullet The American Water Works Association-Hawaii awarded Kenneth Tadashi Yonamine the George Warren Fuller Award. Yonamine has served with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply for 37 years, the last 20 years as the department's chief land administrator.

Bullet The American Business Women's Association, Ulupono Charter Chapter, named Claudia Arbaugh Woman of the Year. Arbaugh is the marketing director for Kahu Malama Nurses Inc.

Grants and Donations

Bullet Donations collected at the 27th Annual Sports Shinko Rainbow Open Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament were distributed to 10 nonprofit organizations by Sports Shinko Co. Recipients of $2,000 each: American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Shriners Hospital forChildren and Soroptimists International. Recipients of $1,000 each: Kuakini Geriatric Care, Oahu Junior Golf, Hospice Hawaii, Kapa Moi Lions, Mililani High School Scholarship Program and Mililani Junior Golf.

Bullet The Pilot Club of Downtown Honolulu selected the Institute of Human Services Women and Family Shelter as the recipient of the Weinberg Friends Award of $10,000. The club also organized an art project for several IHS guests, mostly women and children. Using the Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, the guests created pictures of "home," which will be displayed at the shelter's anniversary on July 7.

Bullet The Catholic Charities Community Relations Department received a $3,000 grant from The Atherton Family Foundation to help purchase computer and multimedia equipment.

Bullet Maui AIDSFoundation received $10,000 from Colorado-based Gill Foundation for its Hawaiian AIDS Education Project; $5,000 from New York-based philanthropic institution Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS in support of the agency's Dennis Dane Emergency Fund; and $20,000 from the Hawaii Tourism Authority to support the agency's third annual Paradise Ride, a pledged bicycle tour that visits each county in the state.
