Punahou wins
girls’ title; Kamehameha
top boys’ team

It seems Punahou not only has the best boys' and girls' volleyball teams in the state, the Buffanblu also have the best girls' cross-country team as well.

The Buffanblu captured the Hawaii High School Athletic Association state girls' cross-country title today at the Hawaii Prep Academy campus.

Punahou finished with 61 points, followed by Iolani with 103.

HPA (132), King Kekaulike (164), Kamehameha (166), Lahainaluna (173), Waiakea (198), Aiea (251), Roosevelt (290) and Kaiser (300) rounded out the top 10.

Annie Kawasaki of St. Francis was the top finisher among the girls, crossing the finish line of the 2-mile course at 13 minutes, 26 seconds.

Chandi Bickford of King Kekaulike was second at 13:29.

In the boys' team competition, Kamehameha won the title, finishing with 37 points.

Seabury Hall (107) was second, followed by Punahou (132) and Iolani (142). Mililani (152) was fifth, followed by King Kekaulike (194) and Hilo (198).

The top boys' runner was Justin Peterson of Kamehameha.

Peterson finished the 3-mile course in 17:35. Todd Iacovelli of Punahou was second at 17:55, followed by J.B. Boison of Kamehameha at 18:11.
