Top 25 teams coming

If the Associated Press preseason men's college basketball poll means anything, some pretty good teams are visiting Hawaii this year.

But if you live on Oahu, you'll have to island-hop to see most of them play.

Six of the Top 25 teams are coming to Hawaii. But five of them, including No. 1 Arizona, are playing off Oahu.

Arizona, No. 5 Maryland, No. 8 Illinois and No. 14 Connecticut are all in the Maui Classic on Thanksgiving weekend. On the same weekend, No. 22 Oklahoma plays in Hawaii-Hilo's Big Island Invitational.

The lone Top 25 squad playing on Oahu is No. 9 Tennessee, in the Rainbow Classic. Hawaii has only one other ranked team on its schedule -- UCLA, which the Rainbows visit on Dec. 9.

Another Rainbow Classic entry, Iowa, is just two spots out of the ranking. Also, Georgetown, which plays in the Hawaii Pacific University Thanksgiving Classic, received 80 points, not far out of the rankings. No Western Athletic Conference team made the preseason Top 25.
