Masamitsu Abe, 85, of Pukalani, Maui, a retired field laborer, died Oct. 26 in Hale Makua. He was born in Keahua, Maui. He is survived by wife Mitsie; sons Alvin and Colbert, and sisters Sumie Furuichi and Kiku Kato. Services were private.

Peter K. Akiona Sr., 98, of Honolulu, a retired supervisor for Hawaiian Electric Company, died Oct. 30. He was born in Lahaina, Maui. He is survived by sons Peter Jr. and Paul; daughters Josephine Crow, Ramona Teves, Lorraine Kaniho, Dorothy Kekuewa, Veronica Samera, Shirley Hering and Lorna Terry; brother Lawrence; sister Annie Hew; 34 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 17 great great-grandchildren. Services: 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, 2821 Lowrey Ave. Call after 9 a.m. Interment: 1 p.m. next Monday at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha attire. No flowers.

Sadao Amimoto, 85, of Mililani, a retired carpenter, died Oct. 29 in Wahiawa General Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by son Roger; daughters Janet Amimoto, Pat Okimoto and Linda Miyashiro, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services: 6 p.m. Thursday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Herbert K. Apaka Jr., of Lihue, Kauai died at age 74. The incorrect information published in an obituary Saturday was provided by the mortuary.

Albert L. Castro Sr., 77, of Honolulu, a retired supervisor for the state Harbors Division, died Oct. 28 in Kuakini Medical Center. He was born in Hawaii. He is survived by wife Marie; son Albert Jr.; daughters Delphine Castro, Debra Ho and Felicia Castro; brother William, and sisters Julia Kahoonei, Adeline Welker and Shirley Medeiros. Margarita U. Dawang, 78, of Waipahu, died Oct. 21 in Wahiawa General Hospital. She was born in the Philippines. She is survived by husband Leonilo; sons Danilo, Edgardo, Nestor and Elpidio; daughters Clety Buenaventura, Myrna Legaspi, Digna Emata, Cleote Gonzales and Anabelle Dawang, 32 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held in the Philippines.

Daniel P. Hano Jr., 79, of Honolulu, a retired welder, died Oct. 30. He was born in Kapaa, Kauai. He is survived by daughters Ileana K. Derouin, Danna K. Lyman, Lana K. Hano and Diane K. Lindsey; son Daniel P. III; sisters Lorna Kauo and Sarah Barnes, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel, Kamehameha Schools. Sophie L. Kamanu, 82, of Kailua, died Oct. 30 at home. She is survived by sons James K. Sr., Earl N., Roy K. and Daniel I.; daughters Sophie L. Takuzo Kawamoto, 90, of Honolulu, retired treasurer for Hawaii Times Ltd., died Oct. 28 in Straub Clinic and Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Chiyuki; son Randall K.; daughters Diane S. Umemoto and Marcia T. Tanaka; brother Toshio; sister Kikue Tanada, and six grandchildren. Services were private.

Sithath Kihamphilavanah, 45, of Honolulu, died Tuesday in Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Laos. He is survived by wife Bounkouam; sons Kevin and Baylen, and mother Noi. Laosian Buddhist services to be held Thursday at Borthwick Mortuary. Call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cremation to follow.

Elizabeth K. Maka, 72, of Honolulu, died Wednesday in Kaiser Medical Center. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by sons Clyde W.K. Palakiko, Humphrey G. Palakiko and Newton A. Palakiko; daughters Gwendolyn K. Gusman, Cynthia U. Mimms, Ingrid K. Palakiko, Debra O. Brink and Chandra L. Palakiko Scanlan; stepsons Arthur Palakiko Jr. and Lawrence H. Shigeo Muroda, 95, of Waianae, a retired contractor for Blackfield Enterprises, died Thursday in Ka Punawai Ola. He was born in Waianae. Karl E. Wersing, 48, of Hilo, a boilermaker for the former Hilo Coast Processing Company, died Tuesday in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by mother Clarise E. Kenneth H. "Sam" Yamasaki, 71, of Kaneohe, a retired U.S. Army program analyst, died Oct. 26 in St. Francis Hospice West. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Grace O.; sons Don K. and Rand M.; daughters Joy E. and Pat M.; brothers Kiyoto and Mitsuo; sisters Annie Takemoto, Aggie Tanouye and Janet Okazaki, and two grandchildren.
