Three-time champion Jesus Salud of Hawaii will take on Mexico's Jorge Munoz on Sunday afternoon at the Coors Ampitheatre in San Diego in a 10-round super bantamweight fight.

It will be the 37-year-old Salud's 71st career pro fight.

Salud is 61-9-0 with 37 knockouts. His career dates back to 1983 when he began with a win streak of 20 fights.

Munoz is 21-13-2 with 15 knockouts.

"I've heard Munoz is tough," said Salud, who hopes to get a title shot afterwards. "He's a righty who comes forward, and is very aggressive."

Asked what he's done to prepare for Munoz, Salud said he hadn't done anything out of his normal routine, and that he didn't even know Munoz's record.

"I always train as a boxer and as a slugger," he said. "I adapt when I go in the ring. If he stays inside, I want to punch with him."

Salud, whose fights are handled by Top Rank, said he hopes to get a shot at WBA super bantamweight champion Bones Adams (40-3-3).

Salud said he is the current No. 1 contender for Marco Antonio Barrera's (50-3) title in the WBO and would still like to meet Barrera .

Salud had won his last seven fights, four of which have been staged in Honolulu. His last bout was a three-round technical knockout against Kasmana Silehu of Thailand at the Blaisdell Arena.
