Castle High grad
thanks those who made
Europe trip possible

Question: Whatever happened to Jordan Salis, the Kamehameha Homes resident who was able to take a People to People Student Ambassador Program trip to Europe last summer thanks to a fund-raising effort by neighbors?

Answer: "I'd like to thank the hundreds and hundreds of people who contributed to my learning experience," said the 17-year-old Salis, who graduated from Castle High School and is working for Hans Hedemann surf shop in Waikiki.

"I want them to know that their offerings went a long way. I got to go to Italy, Austria, Switzerland and France, and I learned a lot about different people."

Neighbors raised $12,000 in one month, more than enough to pay for the trip.

"There's $3,000 left and it's in my college fund," he said. "I'm working now and saving money to go to college."

Salis would like to attend Hawaii Pacific University next fall and major in psychology.
