Hawaii resorts won 24 out of 27 choices as the top resorts around the Pacific Rim, in the latest annual survey of readers of Conde Nast Traveler, a popular travel magazine.

The top five resort choices in survey forms sent in by about 25,000 readers were the Lodge at Koele, Lanai; the Four Seasons Wailea, Maui; the Four Seasons Hualalai, Big Island; Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa, Kauai; and the Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Oahu, according to the magazine.

Maui was the top choice among tropical islands, followed by Kauai in second place, with the Big Island in fifth place after Fraser Island on Australia's Great Barrier Reef and Bali, Indonesia.

Oahu was seventh favorite among tropical islands and Lanai was eighth.

The magazine, which says it has a circulation of more than 750,000, said its readers ranked the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in fourth place among U.S. monuments, with the Hearst mansion at San Simeon, Calif., in top place.

Hawaiian Airlines was chosen as the seventh-best U.S. domestic airline. That category was topped by Midwest Express, followed by year-old Las Vegas-based National Airlines second and Alaska Airlines third.

The top international airline was Singapore Airlines, the magazine said.

The survey results will be detailed in the November issue of Conde Nast Traveler, due to hit newsstands Oct. 24.
