What are the unique qualifications you bring to this job?

I was raised in the community and offer a proven record of leadership in meeting the needs of the 25th District and state of Hawaii. My efforts include improvements in public education, the economy, crime reduction, social services, and recreational facilities.

What are the top three issues facing Hawaii (from most pressing to least)?

a) Improving the economy; b) providing quality public education; c) reducing crime.

Are changes needed to the civil service system? If so, what are they?

Any suggested changes should relate to protection of the general public, and not just advantages for employees and unions.

Most importantly, I am not a politician. I am a certified public accountant and businessman with over 25 years experience. I bring a substantial expertise to the legislature that does not currently exist in state government. Solving financial, management, personnel and organization problems are areas in which I have a substantial background and expertise.

Economy and jobs. Government bureaucracy. Education.

The civil service system is not, in and of itself, a bad system. The problem in Hawaii is the mismanagement of the public service sector of our state government by career politicians. Unknowledgeable politicians and their appointees who have never had to risk their own resources in business or meet a payroll on payday are making decisions they have no background or qualification to make ...
