Brainiacs needed

Dick Clark Productions is searching for a few smart kids to take part in a two-hour academic tournament for Fox network, honoring young achievers nationwide.

Forty children, ages 10 to 12, are needed to take part in the TV special, answering questions involving science, math, geography, history, literature, spelling and critical thinking, competing for top prizes of $50,000, $100,000 and $300,000, in addition to handheld computers, digital cameras and cruises.

Producer Cindy Clark said, "We are looking for children who are enrolled in college or high school classes, advanced placement classes, or who are considered, through testing, to be profoundly gifted."

Potential participants can call the information hotline at 1-(800)-508-4530, or visit www.dickclarkproductions.com. Each potential contestant will be given a general knowledge test as part of the application process. Final selections will be made in mid-October and the competition will be televised during the fall.
