Nick’s scores
with Agassi

LATOUR de France: One is American and one is German,Mug shot but they both appear to love great French wine. I'm referring to Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, two "love" birds who popped into Nick's Fishmarket on Maui this week. Nestled in a darkened booth, they quaffed Pellegrino and a bottle of 1986 Latour, one of the great growths of Bordeaux. Since readers seem to have an insatiable curiosity about details, they had appetizers and the two, who are both allergic to garlic, shared an order of Opakapaka -- quite healthy -- and an order of Bananas Foster prepared tableside by assistant G.M. Don Abernathy. Agassi, who appears to be completely over his long relationship with actress Brooke Shields, told Abernathy it was the best time they've had in a restaurant what with no autograph seekers or amateur photogs ...

BET your last buck that attorney Dennis Ing and wife Charlys will be in tonight's opening audience of "Carousel" at Diamond Head Theater. Charlys, who's head of the Punahou Dance School and Hawaii Ballet Theater, will be highly prejudiced about the production since daughter Kristin is guest choreographer. After graduating from Yale, Kristin joined the national tour of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical and plays Louise opposite Andrew Sakaguchi in the ballet dream sequence. The show is slated to run through Oct. 1 ... The first class production of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change," has been extended at Manoa Valley Theater and will now run through Oct. 1. It's the best show I've seen in Manoa in years, and was one of those rarities, an ensemble cast of four you're enjoying so much playing a multitude of characters from teens to senior citizens that you don't want to see the show end ...

Viva Latina

IF you saw the Latin Emmys, you recognize just how popular the south-of-the-border sounds have become. Now you can participate yourself, when Honolulu Club's tango and salsa dance instructor George Garcia holds lessons for members and non-members alike in disco hustle and disco salsa, a return to his disco roots, so to speak. Garcia, who once appeared on the '80's show, "Dance Fever with Danny Terrio," is charging $20 per person and you can bring a partner for free. The lessons will be at the Honolulu Club Tuesday and Thursday, so folks can prepare for the club's big 20th anniversary disco ball on Sept. 23. Garcia is inviting you to do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight ...

SO you're sitting at home and want to order a pizza, but you're given so many options of stores to call that you can't figure out which is nearest to you? The folks at Pizza Hut have come up with a masterstroke. You merely call 643-1111 no matter where you are, on any island, and they'll get the nearest store to deliver to you. The one-number-fits-all program just got under way this week ...

Sumptuous Buffett

PROMOTER Tom Moffatt is great at serving up a Buffett, providing it's singer Jimmy Buffett. So when was the first time Moffatt promoted him in Hawaii? That would be on Sept. 30, 1979, when he opened for the Eagles at Aloha Stadium. He has presented him here four times since, plus twice in Tahiti and once in Norfolk Island, where Buffett's ancestors lived and many were buried. Now the two are combining yet again, with Moffatt presenting the "Margaritaville" man Oct. 7 at Blaisdell Arena ...
