New mom is all business

WHEN he played volleyball for UH, Adam Lockwood was an excellent setter. His wife, Kristina, appears to have more get up and go. She went to work as usual last Friday, and at the conclusion of the weekend went into labor, giving birth to a son, Max, on Monday the 4th. The Mug shotfact that was the day she picked in the office pool brought about some good-natured ribbing among her co-workers at KITV, with a subtle suggestion she may have induced labor. Her boss at the TV station, Mike Rosenberg, was startled to see her show up at the office yesterday. She elected to continue her usual form of labor as national sales manager of KITV, a mere six days after ushering Max into the world. A lot of pregnant working women are probably not going to like the example set by Kristina ...

WHILE she and her ex-husband, former Bishop Estate trustee Dickie Wong, are "still good friends," Mari Stone Wong says they travel in different circles these days. She was at the Hilton Waikoloa over Labor Day Weekend with daughter Courtney and one of her friends to swim with the dolphins. And while there were a lot of Honolulans there that weekend, Wong wasn't among them, says Mari ... Tom Moffatt was looking over some old concert memorabilia in his expansive collection when he came across a backstage pass for Bette Midler's only concert date in Honolulu. The date on the pass was Sept. 7, 1973, 27 years ago to the day ... Bette's first TV series looks promising, judging from the promos ...

KO Olina resort has what they call the "Aloha Team," a group of people who meet, greet and provide security for the resort. He'll be flying to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to complete in the week-long contest. The conclusion of the week will be a primetime special aired on FOX on Oct. 2. Bachelors from all 50 states will be vying for $100,000 in cash and prizes, not to mention scrutiny by six celebrity judges -- all female, of course ...

FORMER isle public relations woman Jean Dickinson now works for Hill & Knowlton's L.A. office, and on Sunday was pictured and quoted extensively in the L.A. Times on women who opt not to have babies. "I see it at work," the paper quotes Dickinson as saying. "I know women who are pretty darn attractive, then ... they have really bad haircuts, no sleep and food on their clothes." ...

Take 2

AFTER reading the touching love letters written by Ronald Reagan to wife Nancy, ex-isle D.J. Tom Carroll harkened back to an interview he did with the actor on his KPOA show at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 1959. At the conclusion of the hour-long interview, Carroll, admittedly "inexperienced," realized he'd not pressed the record button. Reagan graciously offered to repeat the interview, which he did. Throughout both sessions, Nancy sat and stared affectionately at her husband, as if hearing what he was saying for the first time. It illustrated to Carroll just how deep her love went. Reagan now suffers from advanced alzheimer's disease, and Carroll is an actor, having just completed a role in a feature called "In Memory of my Father," starring Jeremy Sisto, who played the title role in "Jesus" and co-starred with Jennifer Lopez in "Angel Eyes." ...
