Aloha hires Chang to lead marketing

Long-time tourism executive Shari Chang will join Aloha Airlines as its senior vice president of sales and marketing on Sept. 11, the company said today.

Chang is the chairwoman of the state's Hawaii Tourism Authority, and president of SWC Marketing, which has consulted for the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau. She will remain HTA chairwoman, an unpaid position. Previously, Chang served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Castle Resorts & Hotels, and as vice president of sales for Aston Hotels & Resorts. At Aloha, Chang replaces Joe Hale, who resigned recently.

Duty Free business plans Big Isle store

DFS Hawaii plans to open a 10,000-square-foot Galleria outlet in the Kings' Shops at the Waikoloa Beach Resort by early next year. The store -- the largest of eight new tenants at the Big Island shopping center -- will hire about 30 employees and sell jewelry, watches, fashion apparel and leather goods, the company said. DFS Hawaii, a division of San Francisco-based DFS Group LP, operates a total of six stores on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island, and employs 1,300 people. Its flagship DFS Galleria Waikiki is undergoing a $65 million expansion, scheduled to finish in March 2001.

Bullet NEW YORK -- Food and tobacco giant Philip Morris Cos. said today it will boost its quarterly dividend 10.4 percent to 53 cents a share from 48 cents a share. The first dividend under the new rate will be distributed Oct. 10 to shareholders of record Sept. 15.
