rate declines
to 4.3 percent

Hiring in July increased
1.3% from a year ago

Hawaii's July unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent, sharply lower than the 5.8 percent recorded a year earlier, and just slightly above the national rate.

Last month's rate was the same level as recorded for May after jumping to 4.7 percent in June, according to state figures released yesterday.
