accepting applications

Palehua Terrace, a new Makakilo complex of 84 two- and three-bedroom rental apartments for low-income families, is open for applications. The first units will be available for occupancy in early September.

The units, all of which have two bathrooms and are partly furnished will rent for $700 a month for two bedrooms and $800 a month for three bedrooms, said the joint-venture developers, Finance Realty Ltd. and Simpson Housing Solutions LLC.

Under an affordable-housing program, only those with an income of 60 percent or less of the median Honolulu-area income for their family size will qualify for the tenant screening process.

Those limits range from $27,120 a year for a single renter to $51,180 a year for a household of eight.

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of units a lottery will be held.

The developers said applications should be made to the real estate firm of Chaney Brooks & Co. at its 606 Coral St. office in Kakaako.

For information call Chaney Brooks at 544-1874 or visit Web sites www.chaneybrooks.com and www.fffamily.com.
