Hudson packs
day planner

HER name is Hudson Hott, though she doesn't use the last name of her husband, Joe Rockstar singer Steve Hott, on the radio. She's a classic example of youth burning the candle at both ends.Mug shot She co-hosts a morning show with Bill Blaisdell on Star 101.9, and keeps turning up at the other end of the clock emceeing this attraction or that at Rumours, Ocean Club or Venus. And when the guys from Fastball were here for "Bayfest," Hudson acted as tour guide day and night, from the beach to the clubs. The group had such a great time they dedicated a song to her, "Sweet Child of Mine," at the Bayfest concert. Apparently Hudson is a big fan of Guns 'N Roses and played that song over and over while driving the guys around town ...

WANT to see two hunks, one male and one female, up close and personal on Saturday? Well, you can if you venture to Liberty House Ala Moana between 12:30 and 2 p.m. There you'll find "Baywatch Hawaii" regulars Stacy Kamano and Kala'i Miller, and they'll autograph photos for customers purchasing any Soljah products during that period. Or bring in your own items and they'll sign those, too ... A sign at Alakea and Queen announces that coming soon is a Quiznos Subs store at the spot once occupied by Jack in the Box. It'll be just cater-cornered from Heidi's and a Hang Loose Juice bar away from Ba-Le, which also serves sub-like sandwiches for folks who get hungry in their offices ...

Next, McBuffalo Burgers?

UNLESS you happened to watch the morning news on KHNL this morning, you were probably unaware that this is National Bison Month. Appearing this morning to demonstrate his technique in preparing buffalo was Chef Tom Selman of David Paul's Lahaina Grill. People apparently get a little tired of the same old cheeseburgers in paradise, so they drop by David Paul's in Lahaina to sample Chinese Five-Spice Buffalo Oxtail Risotto, which is on the menu through July ...

AND while we're on the subject of food and TV, the Beach House Restaurant on Kauai will be featured on the Television Food Network Friday. The show is called "The Best of ..." and highlights a different culinary topic each week. The chef may not be too thrilled with the show's choice, but chances are the owner is. The Koloa restaurant, the only Hawaii establishment on the broadcast, is showcased as "The Best of Date Destinations." ... Then there's the Travel Channel. Comedian Samantha Brown got a personal tour of Reyn Spooner's shirtmaking plant while shooting a feature called "Girl Meets Hawaii," airing in September ...

HIS name appeared in small print in the paper's list of golfers hitting a hole in one, but that wasn't enough for restaurateur Ed Wary. One of the advantages of his owning Dixie Grill is that the Ward Avenue establishment has a theater-like marquee out front, and where better to proclaim his Mid-Pacific Country Club feat? ...

Slacking off

WHEN George Kuo wants to relax, he finds the best way is to play slack-key guitar by himself, often on his outside porch at night. Now fans of slack-key can relax along with him when he performs Friday night at HPR's Atherton Studio (955-8821 for reservations). He's soloed for years, but admits he was thrilled when Eddie Kamae asked him to become a part of the Sons of Hawaii, which enabled him to appear on the "Prairie Home Companion" and perform with guitar master Chet Atkins ...
