Honors earned

Bullet Drs. Carlos Omphroy and Tyrie Lee Jenkins, Honolulu ophthalmologists, have received the VISX star surgeon ranking for 1999. The ranking places the doctors in the top five percent of the nation's refractive surgeons.

Bullet Island Scene Online, HMSA's magazine Web site, took first place for "best overall web site design, editorial content, functionality, ease of use, good imaginative graphics, special web-only content, and correct links" in the annual Society of National Association Publications EXCEL Awards. Bullet The 4-H program has awarded the following volunteers for their 30-plus years of service:

Gladys Tashiro of Kauai, 46 years of service; Mabel Domae of Maui, 44 years; Janette Carriera of Hawaii, 36 years; Betty Wung of Hawaii, 31 years; Barbara Nobriga of Hawaii, 30 years; Nick Spotkaeff of Oahu, 32 years; and Mary Andrews of Oahu, 31 years.

Bullet Ernest D. Libarios Sr., a counselor and professor at Leeward Community College, has received the Outstanding Individual Award for extraordinary contribution in self-esteem enhancement by the Hawaii Association for Self-Esteem.

Bullet The American Water Works Association-Hawaii has awarded Kenneth Tadashi Yonamine the George Warren Fuller Award.

He has served with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply for 37 years, the last 20 as chief land administrator.

Bullet The American Business Women's Association, Ulupono Charter Chapter, has named Claudia Arbaugh Woman of the Year.

She is marketing director for Kahu Malama Nurses Inc.

On the job

Bullet Ogilvy & Mather Hawaii has promoted Emi Oishi Anamizu to managing director and chief executive officer and Marc Witter and Tim Anderson to managing directors.

Anamizu and Witter were formerly account directors; and Anderson was and will continue to be the creative director.

Bullet Central Pacific Bank has named Blenn A. Fujimoto senior vice president and retail sales division manager. He will be responsible for the bank's sales program.

Fujimoto joins CPB after 20 years of employment with Bank of Hawaii.
