Herbert Bob Stellmacher -- known as H. Bob to his many friends -- University of Hawaii business professor and business executive and author, died Monday. He was 86.

He taught marketing, management, advertising, accounting, economics and real estate for more than 20 years at the University of Hawaii. He was a UH associate professor of marketing and real estate from 1958 until 1979 and also taught at North Texas State and the University of Houston. Stellmacher was a visiting professor at Harvard in 1961.

The Dallas native graduated from the University of Texas in 1935 and got a master's in business administration from Southern Methodist in 1952. He also attended graduate school at the University of Chicago and New York University.

From 1984 until retirement, he was a staff appraiser with Stellmacher and Sadoyama Ltd.

His career included his own real estate firm, H. Bob Stellmacher, Realtor, from 1976 to 1980. He worked for Bishop Trust, John Child and Co., Aloha Realty and Aaron Chaney. He was also a consultant to Pan American World Airways.

His books and articles include "Cases in Real Estate Practice" and "Marketing Cases," plus contributions to The Appraisal Journal and the journals Real Estate Today and Real Estate Review.

Along the way, he operated a Hawaii tour guide company, Kekumu Tours. He was a Navy officer from 1942 to 1946. He was also an active member of professional organizations. He performed community service, found time to be a Scoutmaster and pursued his hobby of dancing and dance instruction.

Stellmacher is survived by his wife Pauline; son Richard; three grandchildren; and relatives in Texas and England.

David S. Gishitomi, 88, of Makawao, Maui, a retired heavy-equipment mechanic at Schofield Barracks Shop 6, died Thursday in Hale Makua. He was born in Halawa. He is survived by wife Shizuko; daughters Naomi Hayami and Diane Ishikawa; brothers Paul and Clarence; sisters Uto Tsuhako, Agnes C. Biscardi, Lillian and Jane Gishitomi, Peggy K. Pamela "Carol" Kalilikane, 54, of Honolulu died July 13 in Queen's Hospital. She was born in Hoolehua, Hawaii. Albino M. Mariano, 62, of Honolulu died July 15 at home. He was born in Ilocos Norte, the Philippines.
