Celebrate with
TEMARI

A two-day art marketplace will be set up at the Ward Warehouse Kaka'ako and Kewalo rooms tomorrow and Saturday as TEMARI, Center for Asian and Pacific Arts, celebrates its 21st anniversary.

"TEMARI 21: Art & Soul" will feature the work of 27 artists. Tomorrow's preview event, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will feature heavy pupu and no-host cocktails. Tickets are $25 per person ($15 tax deductible). Call 735-1860 for tickets, also available at the door, or information.

Admission is free Saturday, when the marketplace is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be arts and crafts demonstrations throughout the day, and a silent auction of art, jewelry, ceramics, clothing and gift certificates, and 18 of TEMARI's artists will demonstrate what it means to be a "fan of TEMARI" by transforming traditional Japanese fans into contemporary works of art. These will be up for auction too.

TEMARI, Center for Asian and Pacific Arts, is a Hawaii-based, nonprofit organization that perpetuates traditional and contemporary Asian-Pacific arts.

Arts Festival. The community celebration of the arts
takes place Saturday and Sunday.

Haleiwa celebrates the arts

The annual Hale'iwa Arts Festival taking place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Haleiwa Beach Park, gives townies plenty of reasons to head to the North Shore.

Chief among them, a juried show and sales of work by 45 artists in a wide range of media.

Admission will be free for the event, which also will feature music and dance performances, storytellers, floral displays, community information booths and plenty of children's art activities, including face painting, chalk art and seashore collage art.

There will also be limited edition shirts and posters featuring "Honu," by Wyland, commemorating this year's fest.

Area eateries will make food and drinks available for purchase to keep you fueled for browsing, and Kamehameha Schools and Crazy Shirts will provide free trolley service around town for those who want to peek into the boutiques and restaurants around town. Then stay for a bon dance Saturday.

Call 637-2277 for festival information.
