Hawaii will be the stage for two powerful singers, newcomer Christine Aguilera and legend Tina Turner, set to perform in October and December, respectively.

The date for the "Christina Aguilera in Concert" tour 2000 at the Blaisdell Arena will be announced soon. Sources said the concert likely will be the third week in October with ticket prices in the $45 to $65 range and going on sale next month.

Aguilera's managers are still working on the final routing of her West Coast dates.

Christina Aguilera took home a
Grammy for best new artist of 1999.

Aguilera's breakthrough year began with her first No. 1 single, "Genie In A Bottle," which stayed atop the charts for five consecutive weeks. The follow-up single "What A Girl Wants" reached the coveted No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 slot for 2000 and helped to push her debut album into platinum territory six times over.

This year, she took home the Grammy for Best New Artist.

Turner, currently on a European tour, is likely to perform at Aloha Stadium Dec. 16, a week after her last mainland concert in Boise, Idaho.

The Aloha Stadium is expected to have about 20,000 tickets available, with prices in the $65 to $85 range going on sale in October. According to sources, Turner may receive as much as $750,000 for her one-night effort.

The tour may be the last for the raspy-voiced singer, who has said in interviews that at 60, it is harder and harder to continue her high-energy performances.
