One-stop shopping can soon include University of Hawaii sports tickets.

Beginning Aug. 28, tickets for individual football and women's volleyball events can be purchased at 40 outlets statewide, including 27 supermarkets.

The new system, arranged through a partnership of the UH athletic department and Ticket Plus, was announced today.

Tickets for other UH sports will also be available as their seasons near.

"We're basically trying to give the university an avenue they've not had before to make single tickets available on Kauai, in Hilo, in Hanalei, or anywhere throughout the state," Ticket Plus chief executive officer Manny Sanchez said. "Hopefully this will help raise revenue for the football program and other UH sports programs."

The outlets are 27 Foodland and Sack 'n Save stores, Tempo music stores, World Cafe, Blaisdell Center, UH Campus Center and MWR Kunia.

Previously, the only face-to-face outlets were at UH or Aloha Stadium (football only).

"This is great news for UH sports fans. Ticket Plus will provide fans with statewide convenience and access to all available tickets for UH sporting events," UH athletic director Hugh Yoshida said.

Tickets may also be purchased with a credit or debit card by calling 526-4400 or 1-888-355-4411, or via the Internet at Tickets.com.

Phone orders can be taken between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. during weekdays and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturdays, said Sanchez, who is contemplating opening on Sundays.

"The system will allow an individual to buy a ticket for whatever game they want whenever they want, so it can help them plan their visit from the neighbor islands or even the mainland," he said.

Also, remaining tickets for the USA Olympic basketball teams' exhibitions Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 at the Stan Sheriff Center will be available via Ticket Plus outlets "hopefully by next week," Sanchez said.
