Shigeru Akamatsu, 85, of Kealakekua, Hawaii, a retired United Electric Company electrician, died Tuesday in Kona Hospital. He was born in Keauhou, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Fujiko; son Gary T.; daughters Mildred Tromberg, Linda Camp, Phyllis Alani and Cynthia Bennett, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services: 4 p.m. tomorrow at Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission, Honalo. Call after 3 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

Kwai C. Chun, 91, of Honolulu, a retired machinist, died June 16 in Hale Nani Nursing Home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Helen C.M.; son Irving; daughters Jane Lopez, Brenda Schwingel and Adelia Cheng, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Private services.

Fred J. DeWitte, 66, of Lake Wales, Florida, a retired machinist, died Friday at home. He was born in Michigan. He is survived by wife Patricia A.; sons Fred Jr., Glen D., Mark W. and Timothy F.; stepson Steven Parker; stepdaughter Terri Jones; brothers Archie, Henry F. and Ed, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Harry V. "Jake" Gaynor III, 44, of Ewa Beach, a self-employed painter, died June 16. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by daughter Jennifer; parents Harry and Theresa; sisters Deborah and Vicki, and brothers Joseph and John. Private services.

Federico A. "Daris" Hernandez, 85, of Honolulu, a retired landscaper, died Wednesday in St. Francis Hosptial. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by wife Mercedes; sons Felemone "John", Juanito "Ito" and Admer; daughters Loring Bumanglag, Aileen Villanueva and Lilia Hernandez, 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Services: 7 p.m. Thursday at Nuuanu Mortuary. Call after 6 p.m. Additional service at 9 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Church. Masami "Harry" Hirata, 90, of Honolulu, a retired Honolulu Auto Parts employee, died Wednesday. He was born in Waipahu. He is survived by son Robert; daughter Elaine Shimabuku; sisters Masue Sato and Takako Ikehara, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services: 6 p.m. Thursday at Diamond Head Mortuary. Saburo "Sharp" Ibara, 84, of Waimea, Kauai, a retired journeyman carpenter, died June 17 in Queen's Hospital. He was born in Waimea, Kauai. He is survived by wife Rose T.; sons Richard, Wilfred, Leslie and Thomas; daughters Patsy Nitta and Susan Arquette; brothers Itsuo, Katsuye, Hisao, Mutsuo and Akikazu; sisters Matsue Horikawa, Shizue Harada, Mitsue Kimura and Yaeko Suehiro, and 12 grandchildren. Vera I. Kelepolo, 80, of Honolulu, a retired housewife, died June 15 in Straub Hospital. She was born in Canada. She is survived by husband Matthew; daughter Deanna Aston, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Private services.

Harriet N. Maki, 84, of Honolulu, a retired beautician for Sears Roebuck and Co. Hair Salon, died June 19 at home. She was born in Kilauea, Hawaii. Case K. Tong, 67, of Minnesota, formerly of Honolulu, a retired engineer for the federal government, died Wednesday in Fairview University Hospital. He was born in Macau. He is survived by wife Jo H. Gustafson; daughters Peri A. and Doremy L.; sons Edric H. and Kieran C.; brother Richard K.Y.; sisters Sue N.L. Lum and Winifred N.Y. Hee, and seven grandchildren. Shizuo Uchimura, 75, of Kainaliu, Hawaii, a public accountant and U.S. Army veteran, died Friday in Kona Hospital. He was born in Kealakekua, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Patsy H.; sons Glenn and Patrick; brother Ritsuo; sisters Sakae Nishimoto and Suzue Okazaki, and one grandchild.
