Floral Parade Float Forming

Volunteers put toothpicks into the 20,000 carnations that will be attached
to the Hawaiian Airlines float for tomorrow's King Kamehameha parade.
The volunteers include, from left, Sue Akimoto, Heidi Sakakida and Liane
Komatsu. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. at King and Richards streets
and ends at Kapiolani Park.



King Kamehameha Celebrated

Lorinne Pokipala arranges some of the 20,000 carnations going on the
Hawaiian Airlines float for the 84th annual King Kamehameha Celebration
Floral Parade. Pa'u riders, marching bands and 12 floats will participate
in tomorrow's parade. Matthew Mokiao, a member of Gov. Ben Cayetano's
security team, will portray the king. The king's statue at Aliiolani Hale
will be bedecked with leis today.
