State plans
Vietnam trade trip

From staff and wire reports

Tapa

Hawaii companies will have another chance to develop business opportunities in Vietnam next month during a mission organized by the state and the Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii.

The June 11-23 mission to Vietnam will seek to strengthen relationships with the Vietnamese business community, the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism said.

Department Director Seiji Naya said the mission will target key business sectors and specific opportunities identified during last year's mission. They include tourism planning and training, hospitality and environmental management, and import-export opportunities. The previous mission last May resulted in Hawaii becoming the first state to agree to develop a cooperative environmental project with the government of Vietnam, Naya said.

A Vietnamese business mission to Hawaii followed in November.

For information on joining the mission contact Richard Bahar at the state Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, 587-2769.
