Iwo Jima Memorial
site is dedicated

Marines participate in the dedication and groundbreaking
ceremonies yesterday at the site of an Iwo Jima memorial
that will be built near the main gate of Marine Corps Base
Hawaii in Kaneohe. The Pacific War Memorial Association
Inc. plans to construct a replica of the National Iwo
Jima Memorial at the Kaneohe base. Yesterday's
festivities also celebrated Hawaii Military
Appreciation Week
.



Mouse maze masters

At the University of Hawaii's Pacific Ocean Science and
Technology Building, Professor Tap Dobry, left, and
students Jeff Chan, David Yee and Jodi Enomoto (in
front row) watch a mouse robot going through a maze.
The maze, designed by a UH engineering team, was
recognized in regional competition involving design,
construction and programming of self-propelled devices.
