Food specialities from throughout the
Philippines will be sold at the fiesta.



Filipino Fiesta time

The 8th annual AT&T Filipino Fiesta and Parade begins 8:30 p.m. Saturday with the parade from the Daiei parking lot on Farrington Highway, continuing east on Farrington and winding up at Hans L'Orange Park. The parade will feature 80 floats, bands and marching units.

The free fiesta, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park, will feature music and dancing, a health fair, demonstrations of Filipino martial arts, a display of roosters and demonstrations of rooster boxing, with the birds donned in gloves.

Thirteen organizations representing different areas of the Philippines will sell food from their respective regions.

There will also be an open house at Hawaii Plantation Village, with free admission to cultural and historical exhibits. Free trolley rides from the park will run every 15 minutes.

From 5 to 9 p.m., Hawaii Plantation Village will host Philippine Music and Dance Night, with performances by Pamana Singers, Filipinos in Jazz, Silangan Singers, and more. Admission is $1. Food will be available for purchase. Call 677-0110 for more information.

Proceeds will go toward development of FilCom, the Filipino Community Center, to be built on the site of the Oahu Sugar Mill.
