Kylie Galloway has been selected one of nine winners of the National Association of Academic Advisors (N4A) Student-Athlete Recognition Award. UHs Galloway honored
The N4A honors five to 10 student-athletes nationwide each year who have overcome great personal, academic and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics.
Galloway, a two-time letter winner for the University of Hawaii women's basketball team, overcame a severe ankle injury in November 1998 to earn all-conference honors. She also balanced family life - son Kyrin was born last July - while maintaining a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average .
Jr. Olympic boxing set
The Hawaii State Junior Olympic Boxing Championships are scheduled for 7 tomorrow night at the Waianae Regional Park Gym.The winners advance to the U.S. Championships June 16-25 in Marquette, Mich.
There is also a smoker for open boxers (ages 17-34).

HPU's Garcia honored
Hawaii Pacific shortstop Holly Garcia was named Freshman of the Year in softball by the Pacific West Conference yesterday. Garcia, a Campbell High product, leads the Sea Warriors in doubles (11) and batting average (.344).
Thunder Bowl fund-raiser
Millennium Thunder Bowl, Junior Achievement of Hawaii's annual fund-raiser, is tomorrow from noon-9 p.m. at the Hickam Air Force Base Bowling Center.For more information, call 486-8806, ext. 14.
Bike races at speedway
The Bike Shop Series bicycle races makes its debut at the Hawaii Motor Speedway tomorrow night during Church Nite 2000.Riders ages 5-16 must bring their own bikes and safety helmets. Registration is at 7 p.m.
Spectators who bring in a recent church bulletin will receive $1 off the admission price. Gates open at 5 p.m. with auto races at 7 p.m.
