Masaoka homer
helps lift Dukes

ALBUQUERQUE -- Three Albuquerque pitchers combined on a four hitter and starter Onan Masaoka of the Big Island hit a solo home run to help his cause in the Dukes' 4-1 win over Fresno yesterday.

Masaoka, a Waiakea High School graduate, went six innings, giving up just three hits.

The Grizzlies only run came on Terrell Lowery's solo shot off Masaoka in the fifth inning. However, the Dukes already led 2-0 thanks to Masaoka's homer in the third.

Also in the third, Chris Donnels had an RBI double that provided all the runs the Dukes would need to put the game away.

Grizzlies starter Jason Verdugo took the loss after giving up four runs on seven hits in four and two-thirds innings.

Albuquerque relievers Ricky Stone and Chad Ricketts combined to allow just one hit over the final three innings of the game.

Ricketts picked up the save, marking his fifth this season.
