Kaneohe's Bryan Clay scored 58 points in nine events to lead host Azusa Pacific University to the championship of the Golden State Athletic Conference track and field championships last weekend.

Azusa scored 250 points to second-place Point Loma Nazarene's 214 points.

The former Castle High School standout will go to the NAIA outdoor finals at Simon Fraser University in Abbotsford, British Columbia, May 25-26, where he will try to qualify for a berth in the Olympic decathlon trials.

Clay needs 7,900 points to make the trials, which will be held in July in Sacramento, Calif.
