Klemm hopes to make
it at Patriots’ camp

FOXBORO, Mass. -- The last guy they called "Klemm" around here won three of his five Cy Young Awards in Boston and pitched two 20-strikeout games. That was a different time, a different sport. His name was Roger Clemens. Now the Patriots have a "Klemm" -- Adrian Klemm, a 6-foot-3-inch, 305-pound left tackle from the University of Hawaii who the team hopes will some day be the anchor of the offensive line.

Klemm was one of 35 players who took part in Bill Belichick's first rookie orientation camp yesterday on the practice fields at Foxboro Stadium.

Wearing No. 70, Klemm's hard to miss. His body type was different from some of his fellow linemen, who looked flabbier and less well-built than the big-chested Klemm.

The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned Onan Masaoka to Albuquerque, N.M. of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League last week so the left-hander from Waiakea High School could work on control problems.

Jerome Williams, a right-handed pitcher from Waipahu High School, was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 17 with a blister on the index finger of his right hand.

Only one of the five position players from Hawaii has stolen a base in the first month of the season. Chris Truby (Damien) has swiped three.
