UH football tickets
to go on sale to
students, staff

University of Hawaii football season tickets go on sale to UH students, faculty and staff May 6, from 8:30 a.m to 2 p.m., at the Stan Sheriff Center and Campus Center box offices.

Sales will continue at both locations from May 8 through May 26.

Sideline and North end zone prices are $77 for students and $104 for faculty and staff. For guests, sideline seats cost $135, North end zone seats $117.

There is a $4 handling fee per order and the limits are four season tickets and four guest season tickets per person.

Valid ID is required for each purchase.

Wahine fourth in WAC golf

The University of Hawaii Wahine struggled to a fourth-place finish yesterday in the six-team Western Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships at Tulsa, Okla.

Tulsa took the team title and Angela Stanford of second-place TCU was the individual medalist with a 54-hole total of 218.

Melanie Matsumura paced the Wahine with a 238 total, good for 14th place.

Tuesday's second round was incorrectly reported as the final round in yesterday's Star-Bulletin.

UH coed sailors third

The 15th-ranked University of Hawaii coed sailing team finished third in the Pacific Coast Team Racing Championships hosted by the University of California last weekend at Treasure Island, Calif.

Regatta winner USC and runner-up Stanford advance to the ICYRA National Team Racing competition.

Sailing for UH, 5-2 in Saturday's round-robin and 7-6 in Sunday's Final Four races, were Brent Harrill, Molly O'Bryan, Ursula Austin, Josh Henrich, Terry Mott, Sarah Hitchcock and Emi Tottori.

Run sponsors sought

Tuese Ah-Kiong, a seven-time Hawaii state boxing champion, is seeking sponsors in his Run For Youth Saturday at Aiea High School.

The funds raised will help support the ministry of Hawaii Youth for Christ. Pledges can be a flat donation or a per lap donation with a minimum of $5.

Harlem show team here

The five-person Harlem Ambassadors Show Basketball team led by Lade Majic, Queen of Show Basketball, plays the All-Navy team Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Bloch Arena Gym.

Active duty personnel are admitted free with ID. Tickets for the general public will be sold at the gate. Cost is $3 for age 13 and up, $2 for children 6 to 12 with children 5 and under free.

Inline hockey three-peat

Team Chamber won its third straight 17-and-under division title at the Oahu Inline Hockey League Tournament at Wilson Park earlier this month.

Team Chamber defeated Team Blue, 6-2.

In other title games, the Hammerheads from Marine Corps Base Hawaii (Kaneohe) topped the Kahala Sharks, 6-2, in the 12-under division and Radio Team KUMU downed the Kahala Sharks, 7-5, in the 14-and-under division.

MVP awards for their respective age divisions: Kyle Matsuoka (17-under), Ikaika Yogi (14-under) and Duke Tomlinson (12-under).

Motor Speedway lineup

Hawaii Motor Speedway "Action April" champions will be crowned in all divisions Saturday night at the ultra-wide quarter-mile dirt track oval at Campbell Industrial Park.

There will be racing for Winged Sprint Cars, Super Modifieds, Super Stocks, Modifieds, Mini Modifieds and Mini Stocks.

Gates open at 5 p.m.; races start at 7.

Maui longdrive qualifier

A 2000 Re/Max World Longdrive local qualifying tournament will be held Sunday at Maui's Makena Golf Course.

There will be open (44 years and under) and senior (45-and-over) divisions.

Wahine volleyball camps

There will be four University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball camps this summer for boys and girls entering grades 4-12.

The camps will be conducted by Wahine coach Dave Shoji, assistant coaches Charlie Wade and Kari Anderson, along with current and former UH players.

Camp No. 1 is June 17-20, No. 2 July 11-14, No. 3 July 31-Aug. 1 and No. 4 Aug. 4-7. Sessions at each are 1-5 p.m.

Cost is $130, which includes a camp T-shirt. Those attending Camp No. 4 will be offered dormitory and meal service for $375, the camp fee included.
