Roberts Hawaii will formally mark its $15 million investment in new buses with a traditional Hawaiian blessing Monday at its base yard in Iwilei.

The company recently bought 30 MCI Renaissance luxury motor coaches, handling more than 50 passengers each, as well as eight customized trolleys.

Roberts now has more than 1,000 vehicles statewide, including 255 big buses. The company also has options to buy another 30 luxury coaches this year for about another $12 million. The buses are in the Roberts Tours & Transportation subsidiary, which offers sightseeing and charter bus services. Other Roberts Hawaii operations include sunset dinner catamaran cruises aboard the Alii Kai on Oahu and Captain Beans in Kona, Roberts Overnighters interisland air-hotel-car travel packages, Voyager Submarine underwater tours, the Magic of Polynesia show in Waikiki, the Hawaiian Ocean Thrills Sports Park in Keehi Lagoon, Rainbow Trolleys and a school bus system.
