World's largest maze at Dole Plantation turns 2.



Big maze, big
birthday bash

Get lost on Saturday at Dole Plantation and celebrate the second birthday of the world's largest maze.

The party begins at 10 a.m. at the Wahiawa plantation with children's activities, food booths and entertainment.

Kapena will perform at 1:30 p.m. and the Hypersquad at 3 p.m. KCCN-FM will host a remote broadcast starting at 11 a.m., and will sponsor a disc jockey/listener race through the maze.

The plantation's Garden Maze is 1.7 miles of paths walled in by 11,400 tropical plants. The center is a huge pineapple made of croton, panax and pineapple plants. The Guiness Book of World Records certified the maze as the world's largest in 1998.

The birthday party is free. Admission to the maze will be two-for-one for the day. Regular admission is $4.50; $3.50 for kama'aina and $2.50 for children. Plantation hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The address is 64-1550 Kamehameha Highway. Call 621-8408 for information.
