A 32-year-old man was arrested for terroristic threatening and robbery after holding police at bay with a gun for four hours in a Kalihi neighborhood. Residents on Holua Place in upper Kalihi were evacuated yesterday afternoon as police negotiated a peaceful surrender with a man who locked himself in his apartment with his 8-month-old son.

The man, identified by his landlord as Chester Jamarabon, reportedly had a fight about 10 a.m. yesterday with the landlord's son who lives in a downstairs unit in the same house.

Police were called about 12:30 p.m., and negotiators and a SWAT team were dispatched to the scene. The man surrendered at about 4:30 p.m. No one was injured.

Above and below, SWAT team members approach the house with the man and child still inside.

At bottom, an unidentified woman hugs the just-released child after the alleged hostage-taker gave himself up.
