Screamin' Jay Hawkins put a spell on a lot of people, apparently.

A friend of the late R&B singer is turning to the Internet in an effort to track down dozens of long-lost sons and daughters of the entertainer, whose real name was Jalacy Hawkins. Born and raised in Cleveland, Hawkins was best known for the sexy, spooky 1956 hit, "I Put a Spell on You." He died Feb. 12 at age 70 in a Paris suburb after undergoing emergency surgery for an aneurysm.

By his own estimate, he fathered 57 children. They are being sought via a Web site, http://www.jayskids.com for a planned reunion.

Hawkins spent many years in Hawaii.
