Melvin N. Borngraver, 83, of Lahaina, a retired steel worker for the Wisconsin Steel Co., died Tuesday in Maui Memorial Hospital. He was also a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was born in Chicago. He is survived by daughters Nancy Crossland and Karen Bocek; sister Elaine Strubel; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Celebration of life: 6 p.m. tomorrow on the the beachfront lawn of the Kahana Reef Condominium, 4471 Lower Honoapiilani Highway in Kahana. Call after 5:30 p.m. Scattering of ashes at sea to follow. Lester De Pesa, 88, of Honolulu, a retired chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy, died Wednesday in Pearl City Nursing Home. He was born in Randolph, Mass. He is survived by brother Paul and sisters Adeline Di Rico, Helen Zona, Ruth McMahon and Alyce Howard. Services: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Borthwick Mortuary. Call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Burial: Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire.

Janice A. "Jake" Estavillo, 59, of Honolulu died Tuesday in Honolulu. She was born in Hawaii. She is survived by husband Abraham; daughters Nora Antonio and Lenny and Lianne Estavillo; sons Darren and Ryan; sisters Emily Medeiros, Frances Asing and Lucinda Tabanera; brothers Walter, Samuel and Arthur Kaneakua; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Stanley W. "Stanford" Farias, 61, of Kalaheo, Kauai, a machine operator for Lihue Plantation, died Tuesday in Wilcox Hospital. He was born in Lihue. He is survived by sons Darrell, Anthony and Stanley Jr.; daughter Caprice; brothers Dennis, Frank Jr. and Antone; sister Marie; mother Ida K. Dar; and nine grandchildren. Carmela V. Figueroa, 90, of Waipahu, a retired supervisor with Dole Cannery, died March 11 in Island Nursing Home. She was born in Wailuku, Maui. She is survived by sons Harold and Manuel; daughter Helen Hilacion; brothers Ignacio, Manuel, John and Luciano Perez and Joseph; sister Helen; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Sabas T. Jamito, 88, of Hilo, a retired longshoreman, died Thursday in Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by wife Mary K.; daughter Liwanag Jaquias; sisters Asonsion Blasco and Leonisa Rayoan; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Hatsue Kawabata, 87, of Lahaina, a retired laundry worker at Hilton Hotel, died yesterday in Hale Makua. She was born on Maui. She is survived by husband Tsutomu and son Wallace. Services: 4 p.m. Monday at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission. Casual attire.
