Have we got a
winner here?

University of Hawaii civil engineering students, front to back,
Demetrio Tolentino, Emi Enomoto and Gaur Johnson intentionally
sink their concrete canoe yesterday at Duke Kahanamoku pool.
The canoe popped right back to the surface, demonstrating that
it can float despite being filled with water. It was their first floatation
test of the canoe, which is 22 feet long, 22 inches wide and weighs
120 pounds. The canoe was engineered to carry four people or a
total weight of 600 pounds. UH students will take the canoe to
the University of Arizona at Tucson, where they will participate
in the upcoming engineering games at the southwest regional
conference of the American Society of Civil Engineering.
