Festival of cultures

The Mid-Pacific Institute presents WorldFest 2000 from 2 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday on the school campus at 2445 Kaala St.

The event promises fun for the whole family, with entertainment by Eric Gilliom, the Ka'ala Boys, Dean & Dean and the Krush, as well as dance and music from cultures around the world.

Activities will include a climbing wall, Hyper-Activities, Hawaiiana and a children's art festival.

There will be a silent auction of such items as dinners and brunches, gift baskets and travel packages.

Food booths will sell kalua pig, chicken long rice, garlic chicken bento, manapua, malassadas, sushi, poi mochi, fried saimin, baked goods and Korean, Greek and Vietnamese specialities.

The country store will be stocked with produce, plants and baked goods, and the white elephant sale will have an array of gently used housewares, clothing, surfboards, bicycles and books.

Parking will be available at the University of Hawaii at Manoa bio-medical facility on Maile Way. Call 973-5022 for more information.
