French accent to
chamber music

Violinist Regis Pasquier, cellist Roland Pidoux and pianist Jean-Claude Pennetier, usually billed as Les Musiciens, also tour as the Paris Piano Trio. Those of a suspicious nature might suspect some nefarious purpose, but non, the threesome perform highly acclaimed French chamber music under both monikers. Maybe they just like the variety.

This evening, they appear as the Paris Piano Trio, treating Honolulu audiences to a performance of Bartok, Ravel and Olivier Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time." Guest Allen Blustine, on clarinet, will join them. The concert begins at 8 p.m. at Orvis Auditorium on the University of Hawaii campus. It will be preceded by a free, informal "Meet the Artist" session at 7 p.m. in the UH Music Building, Room 36.

Tickets for the concert are $24 general admission, $15 for students and symphony musicians. They are available at Orvis Auditorium prior to the concert.
