Catch Filter at
World Cafe

Filter, the band founded by former Nine Inch Nails lead guitarist Richard Patrick, roars its way into World Cafe tonight.

Start time for the show, also featuring Razed in Black, is officially 7 p.m., but we know how that goes.

Filter first got notice in 1994 with the controversial hit, "Hey Man Nice Shot" off the platinum-selling debut album "Short Bus." For the effort, they were hailed as everything from "art-school Black Sabbath" to "idiot-savants for a slacker generation."

After a long hiatus, the band released the followup disc "Title of Record" last fall. The new disc is propelled by techno-thrash and compressed rhythms contrasted by melodic vocal lines. Songs are at times dreamlike, but more often veer toward the dark side of frontman Patrick.

Tickets are $20. World Cafe is at 1130 N. Nimitz Highway.
