Ruth Ann has
eye for diamonds

Ruth Ann Becker was dancing up a storm at the Heart Ball last Saturday when she looked down and saw a flashing diamond bracelet. "I always notice diamonds flashing at me," Ruth Ann said. She asked Vicki Hossellman, dancing with hubby,Mug shot Jeff, if it was hers. Nope. She asked Lisa Haeringer about it and, bingo! Lisa was shocked she had lost it and extremely relieved that Ruth Ann had found the bracelet. It was given to her by her husband Gerard's mother, Marie-Louise Haeringer. Also at the ball, Patricia Zimmer lost a platinum ring with two bands of diamonds, given to her by her mom, Neva Davis. Bruce Liebert found it on the dance floor. OK, enough lost and found stories, already. The ball, a grand affair at Hilton's Coral Ballroom, netted more than $500,000 for the Heart Association. Association volunteer Alice Shoecraft, 80, was honored for 18 years of service ...

Miss Hawaii Candes Gentry, who has a new CD, sang with feeling. Linda Iverson caught the bride's bouquet. A fine dinner in the Grand Salon was followed by dancing ...

IslE folks are flocking to "Moonglow" to see how good Joe Moore is as an actor. Joe is good. Veteran actor Milo O'Shea is better, but Joe is solid as a burned-out, middle-aged businessman. The film could have been improved by cutting some of the lengthy interaction between Joe and Milo as they set up the story ... Don Ho says the Hawaiian food plate served at the Hilton last week when he was named Hawaii's Salesman of the Year/Century, was the best he has had at such affairs. Hilton's Peter Schall, Noel Trainor, Ted Sakai and Guido Ulmann can be proud ...
