INDIANAPOLIS -- St. Louis School's Cal Lee was named football coach of the year yesterday by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Lee led the Crusaders to a 15-1 record last season and the first state high school football championship.

Under Lee, St. Louis has won 14 consecutive football titles. His career coaching record is 217-30-4.

Michael Kennedy of Fairport, N.Y., and Dean Weese of Levelland, Texas, won national coach of the year honors.

Kennedy, whose teams have won six state swimming championships, was honored as the boys coach of the year; Weese, who has won more than 1,000 games and 10 state basketball championships, was named girls coach of the year.

The federation honored 21 boys and girls coaches from 14 sports.

The awards will be presented April 29 in Indianapolis.
